In an interview with Swiss-based Die Weltwoche magazine, Russian television host Vladimir Solovyov warned Europe of the danger of a major war.
Solovyov said, “Of course it is inevitable, because your governments have made significant investments in it.”
The host stated that Russia was ready for peace during the negotiations held in Istanbul in the spring of 2022. He said, “Let me remind you, we were ready to stop in Istanbul; back then, even Zaporizhzhia was not on the agenda. Kherson was not on the agenda either, and the Ukrainian side had accepted it.”
Solovyov claimed that despite this, then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron insisted on continuing the war, leading to the deaths of more than a million Ukrainians.
Arguing that Europe’s support for Ukraine would have tragic consequences for itself, Solovyov stated, “You will see a rise in criminal activities in Europe. You will see the Ukrainian mafia robbing your banks, carrying out terrorist acts with new types of weapons and a level of military knowledge. All these amusing gadgets you are giving them now will be used against you, and you must be ready for that.”
On the other hand, after the summit held in Brussels on June 18-19, European Union leaders called for a rapid increase in the union’s defense capabilities and for Europe to raise its military readiness by 2030. The European Commission, under its new defense strategy announced on March 19, envisions allocating approximately 800 billion euros within four years.
