Russia's Interior Ministry reported that scammers are spreading a fake Telegram bot under the name of the Social Fund and trying to deceive citizens.
According to a statement from the ministry's cybercrime unit, scammers are acting in the name of a state institution and promising a cash prize of over 200,000 rubles.
The statement said, "After filling out a survey, a fake expert from the fund joins the dialogue and sends bank details to pay for a 'guaranteed coupon.'"
It was emphasized that scammers also share fake screenshots of supposed payments with headers to appear more convincing.
According to data published on the ministry's Telegram channel, a fake bot named "Infond" claims to offer users the ability to receive calculations and support from an official expert.
The process works as follows: The user is first asked to register and answer three questions. The victim is then directed to a chat with a so-called official fund expert who demands a fee of 1,400 rubles for a "coupon." It is claimed that the promised payment will be deposited once the fee is paid.
Ministry officials reminded that state institutions never offer additional social support via Telegram bots, stating that information on entitled benefits, pensions, and other payments can only be accessed through the official Social Fund website.
