Russia's native app store RuStore has launched a new feature called 'Connect' to solve the problem of access to local services for Russian citizens living or traveling abroad.
At the end of April, the Russian Union of Tour Operators (ATOR) announced that Russian tourists abroad were having difficulty accessing Russian banking apps, the Gosuslugi portal, and ticket platforms via local Wi-Fi networks.
RuStore announced that the 'Connect' feature allows users to securely access mobile banking services, marketplaces, the Gosuslugi portal, and other Russian services without needing additional software.
The feature is integrated into the store's own infrastructure and provides a secure connection without requiring third-party software. RuStore noted that the store already works abroad, and 'Connect' can be activated during travel.
To use the service, it is enough to update RuStore to the latest version and enter the 'My' section. The company emphasized that the feature is only active when abroad and cannot be used inside Russia.
