Russia's High Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova raised serious allegations of torture by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU) against Russian prisoners of war and civilians. Speaking at an international online teleconference, Lantratova alleged that the Kiev regime systematically violates human rights.
Speaking at the event titled "Crimes of the Kiev regime: terror against civilians in the Kherson region," Lantratova stated that they have evidence of systematic torture. The commissioner explained that, particularly in the Kursk region, civilians had hot brands in the shape of tridents burned onto their bodies.
"They burned this brand onto our bodies. This is a repetition of the torture inflicted by Nazi criminals on Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War. This is the ideology and methods of fascism."
Lantratova said that one of the torture methods was the use of a drill. She recounted how a woman was beaten with a drill, then doused with ice-cold water and forced to stand up again, adding that the woman had to re-learn how to walk for a long time after captivity.
Also showing shackles brought from a place called the "library" in Mariupol, Russia's High Commissioner for Human Rights made the following claim:
"Neo-Nazis hold and torture people there with shackles and call it 'reading.' This is also a repetition of savage practices."
Lantratova emphasized that the Ukrainian army violates the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. She reminded that the declaration prohibits torture, inhuman or degrading treatment. Lantratova claimed that the examples presented reveal a systematic culture of torture within the Ukrainian army.
