Russia's Central Election Commission will present to President Vladimir Putin the decision to hold State Duma deputy elections in the annexed regions in September.
Commission Chair Ella Pamfilova said the decision was taken at a session held on Wednesday. It was stated that the decision was made following consultations with security agencies and senior officials.
The elections are planned to be held in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. A ninth-term State Duma deputy election is being planned for these regions.
Putin had previously scheduled the ninth-term deputy elections for 20 September. The Russian leader had described the upcoming Duma elections as the country's most important domestic political event.
