Ukraine’s special anti-corruption prosecutor’s office requested that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Communities and Territories Development Aleksey Kuleba’s assets worth about 5 million hryvnias, or 111.8 thousand dollars, be declared unjustified.
The prosecutor’s office submitted the application to the High Anti-Corruption Court based on materials prepared by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Allegations concern real estate in Kyiv
According to the prosecutor’s office, the process began when Kuleba was the first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration in 2021. The institution stated that preliminary purchase agreements for an apartment and a parking space in Kyiv were concluded through Kuleba’s sister.
According to the institution, while Kuleba was deputy head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office in 2023, he ensured the completion of sales contracts for the same properties, the state registration, and the establishment of service agreements for the apartment and parking space. During this process, his driver also became involved, the institution stated.
The prosecutor’s office reported that it was concluded that Kuleba and his family’s official income and expenses were insufficient to cover the purchases made.
For this reason, the institution demanded that the assets be recovered in favor of the state from the nominal owner of the properties. The application noted that the source of the assets raised reasonable suspicion.
