The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the country's drug manufacturers continue to release both innovative and previously unproducible generic drugs for cancer treatment.
In a statement to RIA Novosti, the ministry noted that the drugs were released taking patent protection into account. As an example of original Russian developments, the drug from the Biocad company used for the treatment of unresectable or metastatic melanoma in adults was cited. This drug was included in the list of vital and essential drugs in 2025.
The Endopharm Federal State Unitary Enterprise, under the ministry, received a license for a drug with the active ingredient Mesna, necessary for the treatment of pediatric and adult oncological diseases. The drug was introduced into civilian circulation starting from October last year.
Additionally, three Russian manufacturers launched a radiopharmaceutical drug based on the radium-223 isotope. This drug successfully replaced the imported product that the German company Bayer withdrew from the market after its patent expired.
The ministry also announced that the Russian company NPO Petrovax Pharm began production of an original immuno-oncology drug with the active ingredient camrelizumab in the Moscow region in May.
