Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Russia would remain his country’s main investment and trade partner.
Tokayev made the statement during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Ala-Archa State Residence in Bishkek. The two leaders were in Bishkek for a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Putin congratulated the Kazakh president on the support the public had given Tokayev’s policies in Kazakhstan’s parliamentary elections.
The two leaders’ previous meeting took place at the end of July during the 22nd meeting of the Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Forum for Cooperation, held in the Russian city of Omsk.
