The opening day of the International Aviation Exhibition ILA in Berlin was disrupted when pro-Palestinian protesters blocked the roads. The demonstrators chanted "Free Palestine" slogans and halted transportation on routes leading to the event venue.
Due to the protest, many delegates and visitors had to reach the exhibition area on foot. As buses were unable to enter the site, the crowd proceeded on foot towards the event center near Berlin-Schönefeld Airport.
Numerous police officers were present in the area during the incident. Some protesters were removed without being detained.
The Exhibition Hosts Over 750 Participants from 37 Countries
This year, the ILA exhibition is held from June 10 to 14. The event brings together more than 750 participants from 37 countries.
Before the exhibition, issues in the joint fighter jet project between France and Germany had reignited debates about Europe’s military capabilities. The protest on the opening day also highlighted concerns about security and access.
