Six in 10 Russians (59%) support restrictions for children on social media, according to a poll by the VTsIOM research center presented on Tuesday at a meeting on protecting children online.
Exactly half of respondents believe children's access to harmful content should be limited without banning social media entirely, while 27% favor allowing children under 16 to use social media only with parental consent. Some 51% see more benefit than harm in restrictions and 26% see more harm, while 82% believe children will get around them anyway.

Respondents said parents (63%), the state (13%) and internet platforms and tech companies (9%) should bear the main responsibility for children's safety online. The telephone survey was conducted on Aug. 30, 2026, among 1,600 Russians over 18.
