SpaceX's decision to exclude Poland from its European roaming zone has raised the possibility that Warsaw could reconsider its payments for Starlink terminals used in Ukraine. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said the payment for Starlink service could be reviewed.
Poland spends approximately $50 million a year on Starlink terminals used in Ukraine. Sikorski said Poland could review its payment for the service.
Poland seeks equal conditions for Starlink users
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski said that, starting August 17, Poles using Starlink Roam would face worse service conditions than customers in other European countries.
Gawkowski urged SpaceX to urgently restore equal conditions for Polish customers. He said companies operating in the Polish market and earning revenue from Polish customers must treat their users fairly and equally.
Warsaw sends message on market ethics
Gawkowski said new technologies provide people with broad opportunities, but global companies have gained significant power over the conditions under which people work, communicate, travel and use services.
Gawkowski said the state must respond to unequal treatment of customers, market manipulation and practices that violate market ethics. He stressed that Poland is not a second-class market and Polish customers are not second-class customers.
