Responding to claims that Russia was preparing a new mobilization, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian president’s press secretary, rejected the reports. Peskov said the claims were an information manipulation introduced into the public information space to influence public opinion.
In a statement on Aug. 25, Peskov accused the Ukrainian authorities of trying to ideologically destabilize the situation in Russia. He said such reports were deliberately introduced into the information space.
Medvedev responds to similar reports
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, also described reports on July 28 that the country was preparing for mobilization as false and as an enemy provocation aimed at destabilization.
Medvedev urged relevant institutions and regional leaders to remain vigilant against such flows of information.
