Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Yerevan would not oppose Russia’s decision to end its military presence in the country.
Speaking at a briefing after a government meeting, Pashinyan said Armenia did not view the presence of Russia’s 102nd Military Base as a vital issue for the country. He said Armenia would not oppose Russia if Moscow sought to withdraw the base, adding that they were ready to discuss the option if Russia requested that it remain.
Third-country formula for the railway concession
Pashinyan said a shared understanding had been reached with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the need to resolve the issue of operating Armenia’s railways under a concession.
Pashinyan presented the sale of the concession to a third country acceptable to both Armenia and Russia as one of the options, describing this formula as the best solution in his view. He said he did not consider the other options realistic.
