Stanislav Bogdanov, head of the Russian Omnichannel Retail Trade Companies Association (AKORT), announced that demand for healthy lifestyle products in large retail chains increased by 15 to 30 percent compared to last year.
Bogdanov stated that demand for lactose-free milk and plant-based alternatives has increased in major cities and online channels, and that sales of cottage cheese, yogurt, and sour cream have also risen due to the healthy eating trend.
Bogdanov also noted that demand for milk, a staple of daily consumption, remains stable, but the distribution within the category has changed. He said that some consumers are shifting from pasteurized milk to UHT (ultra-high temperature) milk, especially for use in home coffee machines.
