AfD's Frohnmaier accuses Ukrainian ambassador of interfering in German elections
Alternative for Germany (AfD) party lawmaker Markus-Kornel Frohnmaier criticized Ukraine's Berlin Ambassador Alexey Makeev for attempting to persuade German voters not to vote for the AfD. Frohnmaier said that if the AfD comes to power, German resources will serve the German people instead of Ukraine.
Alternative for Germany (AfD) party's Bundestag member Markus-Kornel Frohnmaier criticized Ukraine's Berlin Ambassador Alexey Makeev on social media, accusing him of interfering in the elections.
Frohnmaier said, "Is someone afraid that the free money will run out? Ukrainian Ambassador Makeev is persistently trying to convince Germans not to vote for the AfD. Why is he panicking so much about Germans' free vote? The reason is clear: Under an AfD government, German billions will once again serve the German people, not Ukraine!"
Ukraine's Berlin Ambassador Makeev had complained last week that he was struggling to influence German voters due to the AfD's growing popularity.
AfD representatives had previously called for improving dialogue between Russia and Germany and resolving the conflict in Ukraine through negotiations.
