Frequently asked questions

  • How can I tell whether a website is official? Most Russian government websites end in gov.ru; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions use the mid.ru and kdmid.ru domains. Ukrainian government websites end in gov.ua, and Turkish government websites end in gov.tr. Turkish missions use the format "city-be.mfa.gov.tr" or "city-bk.mfa.gov.tr".
  • The website does not open. What should I do? Some Russian and Ukrainian websites restrict access from abroad or first display a security check. Try again later or call the institution. In an emergency, contact the Turkish Consular Call Center.
  • Is a visa center an official institution? Visa centers are centers authorized by consulates to receive applications. The consulate always makes the visa decision.
  • How reliable are websites promising "fast residence permits" in exchange for money? The list of official institutions is on this page. Do not trust intermediaries' promises (see R10.4 and U9.3).
