Belgrade-based Russian-Serbian oil company NIS has asked US authorities to extend the license allowing it to operate beyond August 28.
NIS’s press service said the application was submitted to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), which is part of the US Treasury Department.
Stake sale and operating license extended to the same date
OFAC had extended until August 28 the deadline for the transfer of Gazprom Neft’s 56.15% controlling stake in NIS to Hungarian oil and gas company MOL.
In the same decision, US authorities also extended until August 28 the validity of the license allowing NIS to continue its operations.
Vucic plans talks with Putin and Magyar
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he planned to discuss the sale of NIS’s controlling stake to MOL with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar.
