A military medic with the call sign 'Babay', serving in the 'North' military group stationed in Russia's Belgorod region, told RIA Novosti that he performed an urgent medical procedure on a soldier severely wounded by artillery fire at the front.
Emergency Intervention at the Front
The medic stated that one of the most difficult cases in his professional career was assisting a soldier who sustained complex shrapnel wounds leading to lung damage. It was reported that the health worker had to take immediate emergency measures at the scene.
Babay said, "There was an attack and the man was hit very badly. He had a pneumothorax. We had to drain the air from his lungs, to provide first medical aid. He also had numerous shrapnel wounds."
Experienced Medic
The medic, who serves in the 29th Artillery Regiment of the 18th Motorized Rifle Division, part of the 11th Army Corps of the 'North' group of forces, is reported to have saved dozens of lives during his special missions. Babay, who worked for an ambulance service before mobilization, currently provides first aid and evacuates the wounded from the combat line.
