A higher court in Russia rejected the appeal of Belgium-based Euroclear Bank and upheld the massive compensation ruling to be paid to the Russian Central Bank. A participant present in the closed session told RIA Novosti that the ruling was upheld.

The Moscow Arbitration Court had fully accepted the lawsuit filed by the Russian Central Bank against Euroclear on May 15. The court had ordered Euroclear to pay a total of approximately €200 billion in compensation across seven different currencies.
With the Ninth Court of Appeal upholding this decision, another significant stage was reached in the compensation case against Euroclear.
