Russia is preparing a comprehensive voting organization for its citizens living abroad for the State Duma elections to be held in 2026. Ella Pamfilova, Chair of the Central Election Commission, announced that over 300 polling stations are planned to be set up in 152 different countries for the elections scheduled for September 20, 2026.
Pamfilova said, based on data from the Russian Foreign Ministry, that the number of polling stations has not yet been finalized but that slightly more than 300 are expected to be set up in 152 countries. In Kazakhstan's Baikonur city, 7 polling stations will be established.
Pamfilova noted that the situation in each country and the number of Russian citizens there will be taken into account when setting up polling stations abroad, and stressed that the top priority is the safety of all participants in the electoral process.
Pamfilova pointed out that since September is the 'velvet season' in many countries, many Russian citizens may be on vacation, and called on voters not to forget election day.

She reminded that voters who will be abroad on election days need to apply to vote at their location using the 'Mobile Voter' mechanism. The locations of overseas polling stations, voting hours, and early voting information will be published on the websites of the Central Election Commission and Russian diplomatic missions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had set the elections for the ninth term of the State Duma deputies as September 20, 2026, and described these elections as the country's most important domestic political event.
