Russia has partially eased restrictions on diesel exports, approving the shipment of 500,000 tons of fuel to global markets in the initial phase. The decision, which took effect today, clears the way for Russian oil companies to resume signing export contracts with foreign buyers.
The Russian government said the measure was adopted in line with the agreement reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Domestic supply to be protected
Export contracts will be concluded in coordination with the government. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said exports would not negatively affect consumers in the domestic market.

Novak said production volumes were sufficient to meet both domestic demand in Russia and the amount designated for export.
Ban initially covered non-producing companies
Russia began applying its diesel export ban to non-producing companies on January 31. The restriction was expanded on July 9 to also cover direct producers.
