Russia extends restrictions on cash foreign-currency withdrawals
The Central Bank of Russia will maintain restrictions on cash foreign-currency withdrawals from banks until March 9, 2027. Under the measure, citizens can withdraw cash from their foreign-currency accounts only in rubles.
The Central Bank of Russia has extended until March 9, 2027, the restrictions on citizens' cash withdrawals from foreign-currency accounts held at banks.
The decision was made because the measure preventing Russian banks and financial institutions from acquiring cash dollars and euros under sanctions imposed by Western countries remains in effect.
Restrictions took effect in March 2022
Under a decision adopted by the Central Bank of Russia in March 2022, citizens in the country can withdraw cash from their foreign-currency accounts at banks only in rubles.
