Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with government members, ordered small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to immediately bring their fuel production facilities online.
Speaking at the meeting, Putin said, "The proposal of Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev should also be taken into account. We need to bring the petroleum products production capacity of SMEs online as quickly as possible and ensure everything functions normally."
Logistics changes in Russia this summer had led to disruptions in fuel supply. Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Novak had announced that the government took a series of measures to address this issue. Among the measures taken were a ban on gasoline exports and tax incentives to boost fuel imports and domestic production.
Meanwhile, Russia's Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) reported that the country's airports have the necessary fuel reserves.
