Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that the invitation extended by Russia to Vladimir Zelenskiy to visit Moscow is still valid. Responding to journalists' questions, Peskov dismissed claims that the invitation had been withdrawn.
When asked whether the invitation had been canceled following Vladimir Putin's speech at the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Peskov stated that this was not the case. He emphasized that no different meaning should be inferred from Putin's words.
Invitation Raised at the Forum
The 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is being held from June 3 to 6. This year's forum is themed "Pragmatic Dialogue: The Path to a Stable Future."
Saudi Arabia was the guest country at this year's event. The forum's program includes the SME Forum, Creative Industries Forum, International Youth Economic Forum, and the Forum on Ensuring Drug Safety.
Alongside the forum, the Petersburg Seasons festival and the traditional SPIEF Sports Games will also take place. Russia's national development institution VEB.RF is highlighted as the main partner of this year's event.
Organizational Structure
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation. The official general information partner of the event is TASS.
Peskov's statement sparked renewed discussion about the Moscow invitation following Putin's remarks at the forum. The Russian side clearly rejected assessments suggesting the invitation had been withdrawn.
