A court in Moscow has banned the publications of a series of websites that were illegally selling weapons and ammunition online. According to the court ruling, these sites were offering delivery of firearms and traumatic weapons to any address.
Prosecutor's Application
The Moscow Interregional Prosecutor's Office filed an administrative lawsuit with the court to determine that the information about weapon sales on various online platforms was illegal. The prosecution argued that the activities on these sites violated the law.
How the Sites Operated
According to the court's findings, the sites identified by law enforcement did not request the license required for purchasing weapons. Access to the sites was free and did not require registration, information was published in Russian, and any internet user could view and purchase products on these sites.
Furthermore, various types of ammunition were also offered for sale on these platforms.
Domain Owners Could Not Be Identified
During the court proceedings, it was noted that the owners of the domain names hosting the websites where the illegal activities were conducted could not be identified.
The Moscow court accepted the prosecutor's administrative lawsuit and approved the decision to ban the dissemination of information on the said internet sites.
