LDPR calls for a halt to Russian passports for migrant workers
Russia’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) called for tighter entry and employment conditions for migrant workers. The party sought to halt the issuance of Russian passports to them, introduce a visa regime tied to employment contracts and impose additional responsibilities on employers.
Russia’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) called for tighter policies toward migrant workers and sought a complete halt to issuing them Russian passports.
The party also proposed stricter entry and employment conditions for migrant workers and linking the visa regime to employment contracts. Leonid Slutsky called for a visa arrangement tied to an employment contract as part of these measures.
LDPR’s demands also included assigning employers personal responsibility for migrants’ accommodation, access to health care, tax payments and departure from the country.
