A senior Iranian official announced that his country is advancing talks with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to Iran's state television Press TV, the official said the negotiations have reached a new stage despite US obstruction efforts.
"Tehran is actively fulfilling its obligations under the memorandum of understanding in coordination with Oman and regional countries," the official said, adding: "If the US stops its interference, Iran and Oman can reach a common understanding on the Strait of Hormuz."
The Iranian official described the continuation of consultations with Oman as a sign of Tehran's commitment to diplomacy and its determination to protect its rights.
Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had also stated that negotiations with Iran are ongoing and that an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz could be reached "today or tomorrow".
