Kirill Dmitriev claimed that Moscow has been proven right in the years-long debate over US biological laboratories in Ukraine.
Dmitriev, the special representative of the Russian President for investment and economic cooperation and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, argued that reports about these laboratories were long dismissed.
He wrote that Western media and what he called the "deep state" denied Russia’s allegations on this matter. According to him, some statements from US officials later showed that the core claims of the debate cannot be completely ignored.
Dmitriev also said that Wikipedia should revise its article on biological laboratories in Ukraine, noting that the current entry labels the topic as a conspiracy theory.
US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard had previously warned that research on "dangerous pathogens" conducted in US-operated biological laboratories abroad could lead to a global catastrophe.
Declassified documents indicate that the US helped establish more than 40 biological laboratories in Ukraine linked to the American defense industry.
In June 2022, the Pentagon acknowledged supporting 46 biological laboratories in Ukraine, claiming the cooperation was for peaceful purposes.
Russian authorities have frequently expressed concerns about the activities of US-backed laboratories. Dmitriev suggested that Gabbard’s statements indirectly confirm the validity of these concerns.
