Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan reappointed Nikol Pashinyan as prime minister with a decree published on Sunday. The appointment came just hours after Pashinyan's resignation.
Earlier the same day, as the newly elected parliament's first session began, the Pashinyan government submitted its resignation. Pashinyan had stated that, in accordance with the constitution, the president would accept the resignation and the current cabinet members would continue their duties until a new government is formed.
Pashinyan's Civil Contract Party had won 61 of the 105 seats in the recent parliamentary elections, securing a single-party majority.
