Araghchi’s New York diplomacy: after Lavrov, Iran’s FM meets Fidan
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, holding a series of meetings in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan after earlier talks with Russia’s Sergei Lavrov.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, holding a series of meetings in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the Turkish House. Earlier this week, Araghchi also held talks in New York with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
According to Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry, Fidan and Araghchi discussed Turkish-Iranian relations and the latest regional and global developments.
Araghchi’s diplomatic push coincided with Iran’s plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week if the US fulfills its commitments under the Islamabad memorandum. The Wall Street Journal reported that President Donald Trump rejected the proposal.
