Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said CIA Director John Ratcliffe did not meet Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow and that claims Putin had rejected the meeting were untrue.
Ushakov said no meeting had been planned between Ratcliffe and Putin. He added that the CIA director met with the heads of Russia’s intelligence agencies.

The meetings were official and confidential
Ushakov said the contacts in Moscow were conducted confidentially and were entirely official. He said he could not provide information about the content of the meetings or offer an assessment.
Western media had previously claimed that Ratcliffe negotiated with Putin during his visit to Moscow, but that the Russian leader rejected the meeting.

Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow
John Ratcliffe made a surprise visit to Moscow on August 25, where he met with employees of Russia’s special services.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said Ratcliffe did not meet Putin and that the visit involved contacts between the intelligence services.
