The nighttime attack on the energy system of the Zaporizhzhia region left the city of Energodar, where the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is located, completely without electricity. The attack by the Ukrainian army caused a widespread power outage in the city.
Energodar Mayor Maksim Puhov told RIA Novosti, "The city is completely without electricity. Critical infrastructure is being powered by backup sources."
Puhov stated that the power outage occurred outside the city as a result of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' nighttime attack on the region's energy system.
Zaporizhzhia Regional Governor Yevgeniy Balitskiy had earlier announced that emergency power cuts were taking place in a significant part of the region.
The mayor added that repair work is ongoing and that electricity is expected to be restored approximately this evening.
