Ukraine's Security Service announced it targeted the Temp oil depot in Russia with unmanned aerial vehicles. The attack reportedly caused a major fire at the facility, located more than 700 kilometres from the Russian border.
Flames spread to multiple points across the depot, with at least three large fire pockets identified in the tank field. The facility is said to consist of more than 60 storage tanks.
The facility's energy and military role
The Temp oil depot is affiliated with Russia's Federal Agency for State Reserves, where gasoline, diesel and other fuel types are stored. The facility ships petroleum products to Russia's northeastern regions and holds strategic fuel reserves for the army's needs.
Ukraine's Security Service maintained that Russian petroleum product depots, refineries and logistics infrastructure are legitimate targets. The statement stressed that these facilities supply the Russian military and contribute to the continuation of the war.
Another fire reported in the same news flow
The same news flow recalled that a fire also broke out at the Azot chemical plant in the city of Novomoskovsk, in Russia's Tula region, following a drone attack on the night of 13 June.
