Russia's defense ministry reported that a new settlement has come under Russian army control in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region. In a statement issued on Sunday, June 28, the ministry said the Pysantsi settlement had been fully captured.
According to the statement, assault units of the 36th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the 29th Combined Arms Army, part of the 'East' military group, broke through the Ukrainian army's layered defensive lines and completely liberated Pysantsi.
Ukrainian military vehicles destroyed in fighting
Russia's defense ministry claimed that a large number of Ukrainian military vehicles were destroyed during intense clashes in the area. According to the ministry's claim, the Ukrainian side lost 5 armored combat vehicles, 6 material transport vehicles, 7 ground robotic systems, and 23 heavy strike hexacopters of the 'Baba Yaga' type in the fighting.
The ministry emphasized that the capture of Pysantsi allowed 'East' group forces to establish positions on a tactically important line, which significantly disrupted the stability of the Ukrainian armed forces' defense and created direct conditions for advancing and expanding the control zone in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Settlement also taken under control in Zaporizhzhia
In a summary report on the course of the 'special military operation' dated June 28, Russia's defense ministry also noted that 'East' group forces advanced deep into enemy defenses and took control of the Novoselivka settlement in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The ministry's report claimed that Russian armed forces' operational-tactical aviation, strike drones, missile units, and artillery elements destroyed two Ukrainian air force MiG-29 aircraft at an airfield, struck storage sites for unmanned naval vehicles and their components and spare parts, fuel and energy infrastructure facilities used by the Ukrainian army, and temporary deployment points for enemy personnel in 141 areas.
Air defense systems downed numerous drones
The same report stated that Russian air defense systems shot down 7 guided aerial bombs, one US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher munition, and 590 fixed-wing drones. The ministry also claimed that since the start of the operation, a total of 673 Ukrainian aircraft, 284 helicopters, 170,750 drones, 664 anti-aircraft missile systems, 29,945 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,749 multiple rocket launchers, 35,545 field artillery pieces and mortars, and 65,085 special military motor vehicles had been destroyed.
The Ukrainian side has not confirmed this information reported by Russia's defense ministry.
