The Bank of Russia is testing data exchange in collaboration with a major Russian bank, with the aim of using it to develop artificial intelligence models, fraud prevention systems, and risk assessment tools.
Project details
Anton Stepanov, Head of the Central Bank's AI Expertise Center, mentioned this work during a roundtable held in the Federation Council dedicated to practical issues in the field of artificial intelligence. Stepanov stated that the Central Bank will prepare proposals, taking into account the results and market views, and will later submit them for inter-ministerial discussion.
A Central Bank spokesperson confirmed that details of the project are not disclosed during the pilot phase, but that the tests are being conducted on the bank's regulatory 'sandbox' platform. The spokesperson also recalled that the Central Bank's proposal for creating trusted data exchange platforms was presented in 2025.
