Russia's Ambassador to Cuba Viktor Koronelli called the fuel and energy blockade imposed by the US administration on Cuba a crime. The ambassador stressed that the blockade is illegal.
In a statement to RIA Novosti, Koronelli said the main cause of Cuba's energy supply problems is Washington's blockade. The ambassador noted that between July 6 and 14, the Cuban National Electric Power System experienced three complete outages.
"Cuban authorities mobilized all available resources to restore the system as quickly as possible," Koronelli said, pointing to the root of the problem.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez had previously blamed American sanctions for the energy crisis. Rodriguez stated that these sanctions have increased pressure on the island's energy sector and led to widespread power outages.
