A woman who fled Konstantinovka said she was wounded in a bombardment by the Ukrainian army and that Russian soldiers carried her and her child 8 kilometers to evacuate them.
Viktoria Nikitina stated that she had come to the village of Yablonovka to visit her father and was wounded by mortar fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As a result of the injury, she and her daughter were unable to move.
Nikitina said, "First they evacuated those who could walk. The Russian soldiers directly carried us for 8 kilometers. They carried my daughter on a stretcher, her leg was bandaged. They carried me on their backs."
The woman stated that before the evacuation she witnessed the deaths of five civilians as a result of the actions of Ukrainian militants, and that her father also lost his life.
Konstantinovka is located in the Donetsk People's Republic, 55 kilometers north of Donetsk. The city was the main logistics hub and supply route for the Ukrainian group in the Kramatorsk-Slavyansk area. The capture of Konstantinovka will pave the way for Russian forces to advance towards Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.
