A Russian marine from the eastern group recounted being wounded while evacuating injured soldiers in the Zaporizhzhia region and subsequently coming under attack by Ukrainian drones.
The soldier, serving in the 40th Guards Brigade and using the call sign "Kitaets," said his unit came under mortar fire while extracting the wounded from positions. He ordered his comrades to take cover while he continued the mission.
According to the marine, shortly after, an FPV drone carrying an incendiary mixture was directed at his position. He said he shot down the incoming drone, but immediately after, two heavy "Baba Yaga" type drones arrived in the area.
Kitaets noted that each of these drones could carry 82-millimeter mortar shells and, despite opinions that evading such drones is difficult, he managed to escape both.
The soldier described sustaining shrapnel wounds during the pursuit but continued moving across open terrain without trees or bushes. He added that adrenaline allows the human body to endure more than expected.
Despite his injuries and renewed attacks, the marine succeeded in leaving the dangerous area and completing the evacuation of the wounded.
