President Donald Trump said the oil agreement reached with Venezuela would affect the United States' energy reserves, adding that the strategic petroleum reserves would be refilled with Venezuelan oil.
Speaking on his social media account, Trump said the process would begin very soon. He described the move as “a gift from Venezuela to the American people.”
Trump claimed that former President Joe Biden had nearly emptied the strategic reserves. In a statement on August 29, he also said they had secured control over most of Venezuela's more than 65 billion barrels of oil reserves.
