Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon told an Iranian diplomat in the General Assembly hall that Israel prays for “regime change” in Iran, as he tried to hand him a Starlink satellite internet terminal.
The episode took place on September 24 after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech. In footage released by Danon, he is heard saying: “If you heard the prime minister, it would be very useful for you to allow the Iranian people to get their freedom after what you did to them.” The Iranian diplomat did not look at him or take the device.
Netanyahu had displayed the same terminal at the podium, describing Starlink as a device that lets people “access truth” and exercise free speech, and offered to leave it for Iranian diplomats who defect.
Dozens of delegates walked out of the General Assembly hall as Netanyahu took the podium.
