According to a Financial Times report, US President Donald Trump rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's request for hundreds of additional Patriot interceptor missiles. The report stated that the Washington administration did not approve new shipments due to insufficient existing stocks.
According to the report, the Trump administration assessed that the US Patriot missile inventory is at a limited level and that preserving existing stocks for the defense of American military elements in the Middle East and Gulf region is seen as a priority. The report conveyed that this decision was made taking into account a possible conflict scenario with Iran.
While no official statement was made by the White House and the Pentagon on the matter, Financial Times reminded that Ukraine has long been requesting additional Patriot systems and interceptor missiles from the US to strengthen its air defense against Russian attacks.
