The forest fire that broke out on June 24 in the Drôme department in southeastern France has still not been brought under control. The fire, which started in a wooded area near the town of Die, is being tackled by 220 firefighters.

So far, 115 hectares have been reduced to ash in the area, where rocky and steep terrain is hampering firefighting efforts.
Meanwhile, the French meteorological agency Météo-France raised alert levels nationwide due to the fire risk. A red alert was issued for six departments, including Aude and Hérault, and an orange alert for 14 departments, including Drôme and Var. The high-risk areas are mostly concentrated in the southern and western parts of the country.
