Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that the city's air defense systems continue to repel the intense drone attacks targeting Moscow.
Sobyanin said that approximately 180 drones were destroyed overnight while heading towards Moscow. However, some drones reportedly reached the Moscow Oil Refinery.
Following the attack, necessary measures were taken to repair the damage at the refinery. Footage shared on social media showed a fire breaking out at the facility.
Due to the drone attacks, restrictions were imposed on aircraft takeoffs and landings at Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky airports in Moscow.
The Moscow Oil Refinery is one of the key fuel production facilities in the capital region of Russia. The same facility was damaged in another drone attack on June 16, where a fire was extinguished on site.
