US President Trump said after a presidential decree signing ceremony in the Oval Office that negotiations with Iran were progressing well and that an agreement could be signed soon. Trump said he was closely following the process and was also involved in the talks.
Trump argued that the war with Iran could end very soon. Saying gasoline prices would fall after the war ended, Trump said he did not believe Iran could hold out much longer.
No full agreement reached over the Strait of Hormuz
Asked when an agreement with Iran would be signed, Trump replied that the negotiations were going well, but said the process concerning the Strait of Hormuz had not yet been completed. Trump said he could not say that a full agreement had been reached with Tehran over the strait and argued that the United States controlled it through the blockade.
Trump also said Iran could fire on ships passing through the strait or that sea mines could come into contact with tankers.
Weapons sent by the US to Ukraine
Speaking about the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump argued that the Joe Biden administration had sent large quantities of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine at the time. He said the United States had supplied large quantities of weapons and ammunition not only to Ukraine but also to many other countries.
Trump said some of these weapons and ammunition could be reclaimed if needed. Saying there were no problems with ammunition supplies related to Iran, Trump noted that stocks were replenished through daily deliveries.
