Artillery units of the Russian 'North' military group, part of the Ministry of Defense, conducted a coordinated operation with aerial reconnaissance units. A control and coordination point for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UkrSF) was detected in Ukraine's Sumy region.
Reconnaissance and Target Identification
An artillery commander using the call sign 'Kadet', who led the operation, told RIA Novosti that reconnaissance operators detected intense activity of enemy UAVs. The commander said, "We calculated the coordinates of the control point from which the enemy was coordinating flights and adjusting fire on our positions."
It was stated that the target was well camouflaged in a wooded area but was revealed by reconnaissance due to characteristic signs such as antennas and launch platforms.
Destruction Operation
After obtaining the precise coordinates of the target, a strike was carried out using high-explosive fragmentation shells with corrections from reconnaissance units. The commander with the call sign 'Kadet' stated, "Our first salvo suppressed the enemy. As a result, the object was completely destroyed."
The commander claimed that after this operation, the enemy lost control of its UAVs in that area, and this would significantly reduce the Ukrainian side's reconnaissance and attack capabilities. He attributed the success of the operation to the close cooperation between artillery and reconnaissance units.
