The Ukrainian government sees a low chance of Hungary obstructing the country's European Union membership process again.
Deputy Prime Minister responsible for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Taras Kachka, made remarks ahead of the intergovernmental conference to open the first negotiation cluster in Luxembourg.
Kachka responded to the question of whether Hungary would complicate the process again by demanding concessions from Ukraine regarding the rights of the Hungarian minority. He said the Ukrainian side has reached an agreement with Hungary on the most important issue.
According to Kachka, full alignment of the national minority policy has been achieved. It was also noted that Hungary has joined the action plan prepared for national minorities.
The Ukrainian official stated that this framework is acceptable in terms of the 2022 national minorities law, education legislation developed since 2015, and language regulations progressing since 2022.
This assessment comes after tensions between Ukraine and Hungary over minority rights on Ukraine's path to EU membership. The Kyiv administration believes the process will not be blocked again by political bargaining.
