Former CIA analyst McGovern: West hides that Russia is winning in Ukraine
Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern claimed the West is trying to hide the truth about the course of the conflict in Ukraine and that Russia is winning on the ground. McGovern also asserted that weapons such as Patriot missiles sold by the US to Europe are ineffective against Russian hypersonic weapons.
Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern claimed in a statement on a YouTube channel on July 1 that the West is trying to hide the truth about the course of the conflict in Ukraine and that Russia is winning on the ground.
McGovern said, "A kind of circus show is going on. The West is trying to divert attention from the fact that Russia is winning the conflict on the ground."
The former analyst also stressed that today there is no defense against some types of Russian weapons.
McGovern said, "The US sells weapons to Europeans but we don't have a real weapon to sell them. What we sell does not work. For example, Patriot missiles and the like. They are not effective against hypersonic weapons."
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that in the past 24 hours, Russian forces liberated the settlements of Rovnoye and Lesnoye in the Zaporizhzhia region and Malinovka in the Donetsk People's Republic. The ministry said the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost 1,395 soldiers and 12 armored vehicles.
